in Kigoma, no time now..

Hi folks, sorry for this belated post, however, it will still take about a week or so for a proper update. all is well. There are no words to describe Lake Tanginyka. Mud, digging, fritters and a wet tent.

best.

  1. Hi Guys, I just read that you have a VISA issue for Angola and are worried about getting to Belgium through Egypt for the cost of the Carnet. Libya opened borders to EU citizens. Depending on your nationalily and the stamps in your passprts check the option of going through libya, tunis and then ferry from tunis to Italy. I booked a ferry through www.aferry.com and used Temehu as the agency for a guide in Libya (www.temehu.com). Ask for Suliman as your guide (recommended by other overlanders). Temehu was great to work with.

  2. Hi there, this is Nicolas Rapp from TransWorldExpedition.com
I am in the same situation than you and had to change my route. I plan to follow the east coast, and there are two things you could do:
    - Drive to Sudan and take the ferry to saudi arabia, then north and back to europe
    - Drive to Eritrea or Djibouti and get a ferry to Yemen, and then north (probably more easy for visa).
Please contact me if you want to speak more about it at nicolasrapp [AT] gmail.com

  3. thanks for your advice guys. we're in Kampala at the moment.Barry, going through Libya you still need to go via Egypt as the Sudan/Libya border as far as i understand is a not open? Nicolas, these are options to be considered although right now we're still contemplating an east-west crossing via Congo river, Kisangani to Kinshasa then on to Brazzaville.will know which way next week. safe travels!
